My name’s Will, I’m a copywriter and a marketer based between Berlin and Brighton; two of Europe’s hubs for everything digital. They are bubbling with creativity and new ideas, and this is all part of what makes them, for me, great places to live and work.
After five years working in various roles (but with a consistent lean towards bid writing and digital marketing) I came to realise that many people and companies out there still haven’t grasped how to write great copy. That’s exactly why I decided to become a freelance copywriter; to help organisations invigorate their copy and stand out from the crowd.
I graduated from the University of Leeds in 2008 with a degree in the History of Art. The sheer complexity of the literature I had to read at university was what first drove my fascination into what people perceive to be ‘good’ writing. After graduating, I moved to Brighton on the south coast of the UK, and in 2014, I moved to Berlin. Since 2008, I’ve worked in numerous positions, throwing writing, project management and marketing into the mixing pot to see what I could produce.
While I trust my academic degree proves that I can spell, I think what really helps me in my work as a freelance copywriter is the practical expertise I’ve picked up since I started working in marketing.
I think it’s important to see what works and what doesn’t by trying things out. Content strategy isn’t about writing a wall of text and then sending it on its merry way… It’s about planning, writing, checking in, making sure the copy is doing the job it set out to do, and then tweaking it if necessary. It’s an ongoing task. I will endeavour to help you at all stages.
I’ve used my skills to promote the companies I’ve worked for, to promote myself and to help my clients. And whoever you might be, I know I can help you too. If you want some free tips (who doesn’t love free tips?) then check out my blog.
